However, this is a promotional price that includes a €2,500 trade-in bonus, a €2,000 environmental bonus, and a €500 insurance bonus. Without these incentives, which total €5,000, the MG4 EV Urban would likely start at around €25,000.
With the promotional pricing, all three variants currently offered in Austria are available for under €25,000. The model with the 43-kWh battery is priced at €19,990. The MG4 EV Urban Comfort, featuring a 54-kWh battery, starts at €21,990, while the MG4 EV Urban Luxury (54 kWh) is listed by MG Motor Austria at €24,990.
The new MG4 EV Urban is not yet listed on MG’s press pages in other EU countries, meaning Austria is currently the only EU market where the SAIC brand has confirmed the launch of the new model. Initially, MG Motor unveiled the new MG4 EV Urban in the UK at the end of January, where the formerly British brand enjoys significantly greater recognition.
The MG4 Urban represents the second generation of the MG4, which has been on sale in China since September 2025 and is now also entering the UK market. After just three years of production, SAIC’s MG Motor brand has not only given the MG4 a subtle facelift but has also shifted it to an entirely new platform. The previous MG4 EV featured rear-wheel drive, whereas the new model, sold in the UK with the ‘Urban’ suffix, is a front-wheel-drive vehicle. The MG4 Urban is also nearly eleven centimetres longer than its predecessor, with increases in width, height, and wheelbase.
As in the UK, the “old” MG4 continues to be offered with larger battery variants, though it has also received updates. The MG4 EV Luxury with a 64-kWh battery starts at €38,890, while the MG4 EV Trophy Extended Range with the 77-kWh battery is priced at €42,390 by MG Motor Austria. The 320 kW all-wheel-drive model, the MG4 EV XPOWER (available only with the 64-kWh battery), is listed at €44,390.
