Sophisticated, sleek, elegant. The 2025 Haval H6GT Ultra Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) delivers a not completely subtle nod to the BMW X6 in its refined appearance. With a bold design and cutting edge tech, it offers an impressive mix of performance, efficiency and style.
Under the bonnet is a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, that’s paired to a hybrid powertrain. Individual electric motors on both the front and rear axles combine for 321kW and 762Nm on its way to a rapid 4.9 second run to 100km/h.
The driving experience is smooth thanks to a 2-speed dual-mode hybrid transmission that switches seamlessly between electric and petrol power, optimising efficiency and performance.
With a fully charged 35.43kWh battery, the H6GT Ultra PHEV boasts an electric-only range of approximately 180km and a very impressive 1000km capability on a single tank of fuel. Driving modes include Eco, Sport, and EV.

On the road, things aren’t perfect, and while stability and comfort are good, the steering is a little too light, and the brakes a little spongy. Externally, it distinguishes itself through its coupe-like silhouette.
That includes a sloping roofline, subtle rear spoiler, assertive front fascia, and streamlined LED headlights. The black 19-inch alloy wheels, paired with Michelin tyres, complement the vehicle’s design.
The unpainted door mouldings appear lacklustre though, and would be more aesthetically appealing if color-coded. On the upside, this vehicle strikes a compelling balance between style and function, ensuring it appeals to both urban drivers and those seeking adventure.
Available colours include White, Golden Black, Atlantis Blue, Crayon Grey and Burgundy Red. On the inside, you’ll find a meticulously designed cabin that prioritises comfort and style, with premium materials, including soft-touch surfaces.

There’s plush faux leather seating, and touches of piano black throughout. The GT-embroidered leather seats are fairly comfortable, offer moderate bolster support, and feature heating and cooling. The heated steering wheel is thinner than would be expected.
The spacious interior ensures both driver and passengers enjoy ample legroom and headroom, making it ideal for long journeys. The stunning panoramic glass roof provides additional natural lighting, however vision out rear window is limited.
The centrepiece of the cabin is the expansive 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Navigation is challenging due to limited physical buttons. The rotary gear shifter is quite appealing, with use.
Coupled with a digital 10.25-inch instrument cluster, the Haval H6GT Ultra PHEV delivers a tech-forward experience, with ambient lighting, multiple charging ports, and an advanced climate control system enhancing convenience.

The rear boot offers 392-litres of storage and can be expanded to 1390-litres. The plug-in hybrid, however, offers no spare wheel, and weights an additional 450kg over the regular H6GT. Cupholders are provided in the front, and in the rear centre armrest.
With a 5-star ANCAP rating, safety is high on the agenda here too, with the Haval featuring autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and driver drowsiness detection.
There’s a 360-degree camera setup that enhances visibility and an intelligent parking assist system, ensuring precision in tight spaces, while making up for the poor visibility out the rear window.
The 2025 Haval H6GT Ultra PHEV comes with GWM Care, offering a 7-year unlimited kilometre warranty, 5-years roadside assist, and 5-years capped price servicing. It’s priced from $53,990 drive away.
